Poker Streaks of Luck, Economics of Chance

It tight positions of a decreasing chip-stack, it is the immortal rule that you cannot control luck.   You may however manage your luck better by having solid play.

Poker has always had streaks of luck, that is, hands that ultimately win the pot (a suck-out) and hands that may win but is won out by a better winning hand (a bad-beat).

Every hand is a speculative opportunity, of the initial condition of your hand and the subsequent condition after the flop and your analysis of risk vs. reward.

If you have the certified nuts and the tells are telling you so.   Then go for it.

Risk tolerance and wise assessment of working capital (i.e. Bankroll).

Poker is a Zero sum game, so, play long enough and on average you will lose what you gained, leaving you with $0.

Some have suggested this is only applicable if you are playing with average players.   Obviously with weak fish, you are more inclined to gain.  With strong and tight players you are more inclined to lose.   

Luck is the 1% rule of determination and fate.

iPad and iPhone Development

Tools you will need.

Like it or not you will need to acquire Apple hardware, to do this with Apple's blessing.   Now I know there are ways to develop for the iPad and iPhone.   I am aware of methods to produce the programming libraries to cross develop from Linux and Windows 7.

We will explore all techniques, beginning with

iPad

This is the test bed for your applications.   It can be anything Apple approves on if you want to distribute through the Apple Store.   If for some reason your application doesn't make the cut.   Fear not, you can still distribute your application manually and avoid Apples 30% tax on your virtual wares.






Macbook Pro

Make no mistake, this baby is worth its weight in gold.   The Macbook Pro is the way to go for iPad and iPhone development.   With the Intel chipset and superior hardware, the Macbook Pro offers a diverse platform that allows multiple Operating Systems.


Objective-C is the main language for the iPad and iPhone.   The portability of the Macbook Pro is undeniably the best reason to get one.

iMac

Now the iMac offers more CPU power at the cost of portability.   This may seem like a problem, losing portability is a big problem for the 


road warrior/code warrior.

One advantage that the iMac offers is the best video editing platform bar none, its 27 inch monitor is full HD.

My Poker Math


The probability of being dealt various starting hands can be explicitly calculated. In Texas Hold 'em, a player is dealt two down (or hole or pocket) cards. The first card can be any one of 52 playing cards in the deck  and the second card can be any one of the 51 remaining cards. This gives 52 × 51 ÷ 2 = 1,326 possible starting hand combinations. (Since the order of the cards is not significant, the 2,652 permutations are divided by the 2 ways of ordering two cards.)

Of the 1,326 combinations, there are 169 distinct starting hands grouped into three shapes:

13 pocket pairs (paired hole cards), 13 × 12 ÷ 2 = 78 suited hands and 78 unsuited hands;  13 + 78 + 78 = 169.
The relative probability of being dealt a hand of each given shape is different.

Went to Pechenga.   Bought $40 of chips from my Bankroll.


I was grinding for about two hours and hit maximum profit margin at $203, but cashed out with $140 after several bad beats.
